Math/Stat Club Meeting

The Activity for November is… Kickball!  We are extending an invitation to the CS club to see if they would like to play with us whenever we play.  Most likely it will be on Wednesday the 15th at about 7ish.  We still need to sign up for a time slot in the gym though so this could change.  An email will be sent out when everything is finalized.  Please try to show up if you can make it.

The order for the fleeces was put in last week Friday (October 27th).  It will be a maximum of two weeks before they will be (at least this is what we were told).  An email will be sent out informing everyone of when they arrive and telling you when you can pick them up.

In the spring we will most likely put an order in for polos.  The details will be talked about more in depth at later meetings.  We would like to get the order in within a week or two of getting back from the holiday break.

There is also talk about putting an order in for Math/Stat Club sweat pants through a rogue agent (Travis).

Where will we go!?  By this I mean where will we take a trip to next semester?  We could go to a museum or visit a grad school or some other fun location.  One suggestion was to visit the grad school in the Cities.  If you have suggestions bring them to the next meeting as we will most likely not take a trip until next semester.

We also want to clean up the block that we adopted last year.  We did this with the CS club and we are supposed to clean it once a month.  It doesn’t take much time at all and is for the good of the community.  Once we have more details they will be sent out.

Would you like to volunteer to help middle school students with math?  We are hoping to do this as a club.  Most likely there would be one day a week where after school (roughly from 3:30 to 5 but times could change) we would help the students.  We would only need a few people there each week but it could help them out a lot.  It seemed that Mondays worked best for the people that attended the meeting so that is when we are going to try to get it to be.  More information will be sent out when it arrives.

Another volunteering opportunity could be to help out at the elementary school after school with reading and math skills.  Not much information was present but if you want to help you can contact one of the officers and we’ll try to get it figured out for you.

A tally of the statistics majors was taken because we need five charter members for the stats honor society that we want to get going.

The next meeting will be on December 6th at 8pm in Gilde 327.  It is the first Wednesday in December.
